Ukrainian Police Officers Save A Puppy From A Destroyed Building And Return It To Its Elderly Owner
Even though the current war in Ukraine continues to astound the world with the death and destruction it brings, amazing stories have emerged that demonstrate that good can happen even in the darkest of times. On April 12, as Russian forces shelled the town of Mykhailivka in the Donetsk region, Ukrainian police rushed to the scene to assist locals.
They heard a puppy yelp while helping with the wreckage of a collapsed house. Without a moment to spare, all of the rescuers set out to dig the animal up, using gloves to lift pieces of rock and debris from the pile.
There, underneath the wreckage, the police uncovered a tiny black puppy, shivering and covered in dust. Amazingly, the small pup had survived the blast and had been gasping for air underneath the dirt for a long time before the responders arrived.
The puppy was cleaned up and given time to breathe before being returned to its 77-year-old owner, who had been unable to locate it after escaping the blast. While the man's home was destroyed in the shelling, he was grateful to the rescuers for finding his beloved dog.
Both the man and the dog received medical attention afterward, and both are expected to make a full recovery. While the story ended relatively positively for those involved (the man still lost his home), the Donetsk region has been put under tremendous strain as police and law enforcement authorities attempt to help people who were harmed by the attack.
A puppy is rescued by Ukrainian police from a destroyed house near Donetsk that was bombed by Russian forces.

Its 77-year-old owner managed to escape the bombardment but had no idea where the puppy had gone. The first responders rushed to the scene and dug through the rubble to find the missing animal.

Medics treated both the puppy and the owner, and both are recovering.
“Thanks to the boys for doing everything quickly and promptly here,” the dog owner said while holding the pup, who was trembling from the shock.

Buried alive but saved by real Ukrainian heroes! Real heroes are even kind to puppies. We must give praise to the Ukrainian people and their first responders.
Amid fear, destruction, and death, they still care for everyone - even pets. We hope this madness will end soon.
The war in Ukraine has caused death and destruction that Europe hasn't witnessed in over 70 years.
According to the UN, at least 4,031 people have been killed, including nearly 200 children. Officials also noted that the numbers are probably much higher. There is no available data on pets that have lost their lives.
It is incredible how we haven't learned anything from the wars our grandfathers fought.
Those of us who had the chance to speak to elderly people who lived through wars were told one thing over and over again - war is hell. Innocent lives are always the first to be lost in war. And not only human lives.
