Watch Emotional Video Of Rescue Workers Trying To Pull Injured Dog From Rubble, Amidst The Devastating Turkey-Syria Earthquake
Rescue footage from the Turkey-Syria earthquake has been doing what the rubble could not. It’s showing up, again and again, with tiny miracles inside the worst kind of disaster.
In this clip, a dog named Pamuk is trapped under debris while rescue workers close in, hands working fast in the cold, the clock clearly not on anyone’s side. The moment Pamuk is spotted, the group doesn’t treat this like background noise, they commit to pulling him free. And once the video spreads, the hope for more rescues starts colliding with the reality of time passing and freezing temperatures.
Pamuk’s rescue is heartbreaking, but it’s also the kind of story that makes you hit replay and then keep praying for what’s still buried.
A group of rescue workers spotted Pamuk stuck under the debris and decided to lend a helping hand

The second the rescue workers noticed Pamuk stuck under the debris, the whole operation shifted from “search” to “get him out, no matter what.”
After the video of Pamuk's rescue went viral, news reporter Lane Luckie tweeted, “We’re also seeing examples of pets rescued, like this little dog named Pamuk.” Sadly, hope for additional rescues will start to fade due to the time that has passed and the freezing temperatures.

After Lane Luckie’s tweet put Pamuk on everyone’s screen, the world watched the same freezing rescue unfold like it might still be possible for others.
This rescue echoes the heroic Husky who helped save over 40 people during Turkey’s earthquake.
Once Pamuk was finally freed, he was taken about 200 kilometers west to Mesin, where the owner’s neighbor steps in to care for him while the owner recovers.
After Pamuk was rescued, it was sent to Mesin, situated approximately 200 kilometers west of Iskenderun. There, the dog will be cared for by its owner's neighbor until its owner recovers from their injuries.
As reported by the Associated Press, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described the recent earthquakes as “one of the greatest disasters our nation has faced in its history.”
On a visit to the Adiyaman province, he expressed his commitment to the search-and-rescue operations. He assured the people that work would continue until every individual trapped in the debris was rescued.

And even as President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed search-and-rescue efforts would continue until everyone trapped is found, Pamuk’s story is the reminder that every minute matters.
The Turkey-Syria earthquake was a harrowing event that brought devastation and loss to both humans and animals alike. However, the heartwarming rescue of Pamuk exemplifies the capacity for compassion and selflessness that resides within us.
The rescue workers didn't care that Pamuk wasn't human; they were determined to preserve the life of every living thing that was affected by the disaster.
In the face of overwhelming adversity, acts of kindness and love are all we need to scale through.
For Pamuk, the rubble didn’t win, and that’s the kind of victory you can’t stop thinking about.
