That routine changed in a split second when a dust devil swept through their Virginia yard and lifted the 70-pound dog off the ground. The wild moment was caught on a neighbor’s security camera, and it left everyone stunned.

Luckily, the 70-pound dog did not sustain any injuries, but he was shaken by the incident.
They decided to head back inside and wait for the wind to calm down.
Duke was supported by the other family's Lab, Piece, after the incident. While he has always been a beloved member of the Wampler family, the run-in with the whirlwind has elevated their love and admiration for him.
The Wampler family has coined a new nickname for him: Duke the Flying Dog. The kids even joke about getting him a cape. However, according to Duke's mom, she's fine with Duke never taking flight again.
