A Week After Adopting a Special Needs Cat, Family Goes Back and Adopts His Best Friend
Some cats wait a long time for a home, and some end up changing a family’s plans in the sweetest way possible. That is exactly what happened with Champ and Theo, two special-needs cats who found each other at Purrfect Pals Cat Sanctuary.
Theo, a friendly three-year-old who loved attention, was already settled in the sanctuary’s FIV Land when Champ arrived as a stray and needed time to heal. Once Champ recovered, the two bonded fast, and when Theo was adopted, his best friend was left behind.
A week later, Kristy went back for Champ, and the family’s happy ending got even better.
Champ and Theo are two cats who met at Purrfect Pals Cat Sanctuary

Theo had an entire, blissful life ahead of him, but Champ was still waiting and hoping that someone would find him at Purrfect Pals.
He immediately became the "king of his castle."

While the family was cheerful and seemingly complete, Kristy couldn't resist the urge to adopt another kitten just a week after getting Theo. The desire to adopt arose when she learned about Theo's closest friend still waiting at Purrfect Pals.
That was all it took for her to make a second trip back.
This feels like the bond between two sister cats, who stuck together through two adoptions during their first owner’s hospice care, right here.
Kristy went to pick up Champ as well
“Once I found out how close Theo was with Champ, I had to reunite them,” she said in the story.

So she made a second trip to the sanctuary, and she became the proud pawrent of two cats with special needs! FIV-positive felines offer all the warmth and love that other cats can give, and now Kristy's family will experience it firsthand.
Kristy finally got her daughter a cat, and she's pretty smitten as well

“Our family feels so blessed to have our new boys, and I’m so glad they could be together. Both of my kids are in love, and my daughter has never been as diligent with her chores as she has been with the cat box. She has been begging for a kitty for years… now that we have our own house, I was finally able to get her her kitties, and I have to say, I’m pretty smitten as well.”
It takes a special person to open their home to a special-needs animal, but to take in two because of the first one is truly incredible! Kristy has a home and a heart large enough for both Champ and Theo.
Now the two felines will continue their lives as close friends and, most importantly, as family.
Some happy endings come with a second trip.
