A Week After Adopting a Special Needs Cat, Family Goes Back and Adopts His Best Friend
It is always incredible to hear news of special-needs cats getting adopted. But when two best friends get to return home together, it's something uniquely wonderful!
Champ and Theo are two cats who met at Purrfect Pals Cat Sanctuary, a shelter committed to providing special-needs cats with the opportunity to find a permanent home, just like other cats.
Their story is heartwarming and will surely make you smile. Theo is a friendly three-year-old with a pure love for attention, and he was living in Purrfect Pals' FIV Land, a place for cats with feline immunodeficiency virus, before Champ showed up.
Champ was found as a stray cat and required time to recuperate from certain wounds. Once he was completely healed, he and Theo bonded immediately.
The two felines became best buds and were inseparable until the day a family came to adopt him. Theo's new mother, Kristy, came to pick up a little furry friend for her feline-loving children, and as soon as she saw him, she knew he was the ideal choice.
Theo became the shadow of her daughter, and as Kristy put it, he immediately became the "king of his castle."

Theo had an entire, blissful life ahead of him, but Champ was still waiting and hoping that someone would find him at Purrfect Pals.
He immediately became the "king of his castle."

While the family was cheerful and seemingly complete, Kristy couldn't resist the urge to adopt another kitten just a week after getting Theo. The desire to adopt arose when she learned about Theo's closest friend still waiting at Purrfect Pals.
Kristy went to pick up Champ as well
“Once I found out how close Theo was with Champ, I had to reunite them,” she said in the story.

So she made a second trip to the sanctuary, and she became the proud pawrent of two cats with special needs! FIV-positive felines offer all the warmth and love that other cats can give, and now Kristy's family will experience it firsthand.
Kristy finally got her daughter a cat, and she's pretty smitten as well

“Our family feels so blessed to have our new boys, and I’m so glad they could be together. Both of my kids are in love, and my daughter has never been as diligent with her chores as she has been with the cat box. She has been begging for a kitty for years… now that we have our own house, I was finally able to get her her kitties, and I have to say, I’m pretty smitten as well.”
Now the two felines will get to carry on with their lives

It takes a special person to open their home to a special-needs animal, but to take in two because of the first one is truly incredible! Kristy has a home and a heart large enough for both Champ and Theo.
Now the two felines will continue their lives as close friends and, most importantly, as family.
