Shelter Staff Creates Amazing Adoption Campaign And Finds Loving Home For Cat That Spent 400 Days In The Shelter
Champas spent more than a year waiting for a home, and the shelter staff refused to let him fade into the background.
At the Animal Welfare League shelter in Australia, the shy white cat kept to himself for most of his stay, even as the days turned into months. So the team tried something unusual, turning him into a "feline receptionist" and later giving him a playful dating profile to help him stand out.
It worked, and after 436 days, Champas finally got the happy ending everyone had been hoping for.
Meet Champas

Champas was a resident at the Animal Welfare League shelter in Australia. He was renowned for being shy and rarely engaged with others. He spent most of his time alone, like many animals do in shelters.

The staff members decided to make him a "feline receptionist" to encourage him to connect with others and become more social. Champas began to get along with people and became much friendlier due to the success of the plan.
This prompted the team to launch an ad campaign. They created Champas's dating profile!
Champas had already been in the shelter on Valentine's Day. They wanted to find him the ideal home so he could spend Valentine's Day with someone he cares about.
For this exceptional little guy, they devised a one-of-a-kind campaign. At the Animal Welfare League, the kitty became quite a star.
After 436 days, Champas was ultimately adopted. Nathan, his new father, said:
“To everyone who is wondering what happened to Champas, the long-term resident of Kemps Creek - he came home with me today, and after biting my hand, went straight to sleep.”
The staff decided to promote him as a "feline receptionist" to encourage him to engage with other people and become more social.

The shelter's creative plan gave Champas a real chance to shine.
