Wholesome Story of a Cat Who Left His Crate to Go Cuddle with a Sick Dog Will Melt Your Heart
Ginger’s rescue story starts in a storm drain, where the soaked little cat was pulled out after a major rainstorm and rushed to Greenside Animal Hospital. He arrived scared, tiny, and unsure of everyone around him, but the isolation ward gave him a quiet place to recover.
Not long after, another stray named Anne was brought in, weak and covered in ticks and fleas, and she was placed in the same ward. The two ended up across the room from each other, with staff expecting a routine recovery, not a friendship that would completely change the mood of the place.
Then Ginger made his move, and everything got a lot sweeter from there.
The Cute Little Cat, Ginger

Anne’s body was covered with ticks and fleas, and she was extremely weak. A trainer at the club took her to the hospital, and everyone could quickly see that she was very sick.
They began treating her to help her recuperate and then got her settled in the isolation ward.
The Strayed but Found Dog, Anne

Typically, the dogs and cats at Greenside Animal Hospital are kept in separate areas, but the isolation ward is for extraordinary cases. The crates with Anne and Ginger were across the room from one another.
It was essentially impossible for them to communicate, or at least that is what the staff thought. However, it turns out that Ginger had his own plans.
That setup did not last long.
The Two Have Now Become So Close

One day, the staff walked into the isolation ward and stopped immediately when they noticed that Ginger wasn't in his crate. Lo and behold, he was nestled up with Anne in her crate.
Viljoen and Greube confirmed that they had underestimated the little cat's ability to wriggle through the door of Anne's cage.
Anne and Ginger Are Sharing the Same Crate Full Time

Because the little dog was so weak, they never viewed her as a threat to the cat. But when they saw them together for the very first time, there was certainly a moment of panic, as some dogs don't respond well to cats being around them and vice versa.
It’s the same kind of bond as Taka and Dr. Martin, after a kennel injury and a fire.
Hey Hooman!

Everyone's fears were quickly alleviated when they saw how gentle Anne was with Ginger and how much they seemed to cherish one another. The pair appeared to calm each other down, and although the staff attempted to separate them once more, it did not work.
Anne and Ginger had concluded that their place was with each other, and that was that.
They Sleep While Snuggling Close to Each Other

After we first found them together, we moved the little cat back into his crate, as his litter box, food, and water were in there, but he quickly left it and returned to his new companion. Currently, Anne and Ginger are sharing the same crate full time, and they couldn't be happier with their decision.
They Have Their Meals Together Too

Even though Anne was very weak when she first arrived at the hospital, she seemed to be recovering well with her new friend Ginger around to give her strength. The cat provides her with something to care for and focus on, and she, in turn, offers him a sense of peace and security that he had been missing previously.
Our Newfound Friendship...

Viljoen and Greube say that it is definitely a case of ‘yours, mine, and ours’ with these two, as they love to cuddle and even share meals together! They also have toys, but the little cat's favorite pastime is chasing Anne’s tail!
The pair might be completely different, but it doesn't make any difference. Their friendship is strong, and everyone agrees that it's the sweetest thing that could ever exist.
Some friendships just refuse to stay in separate crates.
