Boy Makes A Heartbreaking Decision To Leave His Puppy At A Shelter To Save It From His Dad's Abuse
Kids and dogs forming a connection is truly one of the most heartwarming things to see in this world. When dogs are just puppies, kids often have a protective feeling toward them, and once those puppies grow up to be in their full glory, they seem willing to do anything to keep those kids away from harm.
As pure as they are, it's understandable that kids and dogs would have a special connection that provides a blanket of protection over them, keeping them safe from the lurking dangers of the cruel world. According to a study published by the University of Cambridge, kids can derive much more satisfaction from their relationships with animals than from those with their siblings.
They also tend to feel more comfortable mingling with animal companions compared to the rowdiness involved when they play with their siblings or other kids. The study also states that having pets in the household plays a significant role in a child's development and can greatly enhance their social skills and emotional intelligence.
Since kids are still taking their first steps in finding their place in this world, they prefer animal companions because they are less judgmental, and they always find ways to protect each other.
So when this particular boy left his puppy at the shelter because his dad kept beating the poor creature, it warmed the hearts of the volunteers and people who read his story online, highlighting how brave and pure he is for saving his best friend, even if it means they would no longer be together. It's not really a surprise that the world is truly a cruel place to live, especially for those who possess nothing but purity and innocence. Sometimes, people have to make monumental decisions, even if it means breaking their own hearts.
And one day, a certain 12-year-old boy had to make a heartbreaking decision just like that.

A shelter found a puppy at their doorstep that contained a letter from a 12-year-old boy.
“Someone left this dog at the door of the shelter, inside a box, with a plush toy and a note. The note was written by a kid who explained that his dad was always beating the dog and was planning to sell him. In a state of despair, he left the dog here to save him, writes boredpanda.”
The post attracted a lot of attention, and more and more people decided to help by donating and even offering to adopt the puppy that was found in a box.

The shelter first checked the puppy's health and looked for any signs of concern.
“We need to take the dog to the vet so he can check his tail, which is apparently fractured. We also need to remove parasites and get him a check-up. This means more expenses and work for us, but luckily the dog will be safe.”

A letter was left with the puppy. Nothing else was discovered about the kid who brought him to the shelter, except that he was a 12-year-old boy named Andrés from Mexico.

Here's what the letter said:
“My name is Andrés and I’m 12 years old. My mom and I decided to leave him with you. All of this is behind my dad’s back because he was thinking of selling him. But he is always beating and kicking the dog. Once, he kicked him so hard that his little tail got injured. I hope you can help him and take care of him. Here is a plush toy so he won’t forget me.”

The dog was named Rene by the shelter. They have been looking for the right family for Rene, and they didn't need to look far since they had already received over 300 messages from people wanting to adopt the puppy.

The shelter wishes that more people would actually adopt animals, even if they don't go viral online. Millions of animals are experiencing neglect and abuse in the world, and all of them truly deserve to have a happy and loving family to care for them.
“If everyone opened their hearts and homes to all animals, not just this dog, all our animals in the shelter would have already been adopted twice. Thanks to the few people who came to the shelter offering their help to protect other animals suffering from abuse or being abandoned in our district and surroundings.”

Not all dogs are lucky enough to be wanted by hundreds of people because they don't go viral, and we truly hope that the family Rene ends up with will ensure his health and well-being are at their optimum best!
