Hunting Lion Is In For A Surprise As He Gets Flipped Into The Air Just As He Dug His Teeth Into A Buffalo
Kruger National Park has seen its share of chaos, but this clip is next level. A lion finally got its teeth into a buffalo, and for a moment it looked like the hunt was already over.
Then the buffalo did something you would not expect from a victim. While Ian Matheson watched the scene unfold and a small group of tourgoers had to stand there and take it, the herd circled back, and one buffalo companion turned the tables in the most brutal way possible.
One flip later, the lion was airborne, and the whole “who’s the predator” situation got flipped fast.

You see, after the lion attacked a member of its herd, the buffalo launched a daring rescue operation. After silently stalking the buffalo for around 45 minutes, the lion had already sunk its teeth into the hapless animal.

After the lion had stalked the buffalo for around 45 minutes, it finally sank in, but its focus on the meal left it wide open to a rescue that nobody could stop.
“Then we saw two of the original herd coming back to investigate, and we didn’t really know what to expect,” the 17-year-old said. “It was insane; he flipped the lion about five meters into the air.
I had never seen anything like it… we have never seen anything close to what we witnessed that morning. We really felt privileged to have experienced such a rare occurrence.”
And if you thought safari chaos was over, lions mating on a safari jeep has tourists laughing mid-ride.

And while the tour group was stuck observing without intervening, the buffalo’s companion jumped in and turned the attack into a slapstick nightmare for the lion’s grip.
Those who had taken the tour were forced to observe the horrific event without being able to intervene to save the buffalo. But just as the buffalo appeared to be succumbing, one of its companions intervened.
In reality, the lion had left itself vulnerable to a surprise attack because it was so focused on bringing down its meal.

The wild part is that the encounter ended without serious injuries, so the only thing truly bruised was the lion’s ego after it got flipped mid-hunt.
The most remarkable aspect is that none of the animals suffered serious injuries as a result of the encounter, with the lion's damaged ego being the only exception.

The buffalo didn’t just survive, it served the lion a lesson it clearly did not forget.
Before you call it luck, see how a lion “wakes” the lioness with a bite, then regrets it.
