Dedicated Cat Takes His Job of Dropping Off His Best Girl to the Bus Stop Every Day Seriously
His name is Craig, and he is the best friend any little girl could ask for! Craig is a black-and-white rescue cat, adopted by his family in 2019. He takes his daily job of seeing his little human off to the bus very seriously.
Jessica Leatherman, Craig's mom, said that the family cat started his bus stop duty once her 7-year-old daughter began taking the bus to school this year. The cat and the little girl share an inseparable bond. Craig noticed that she has a new morning routine now that she's in the first grade.
He knows when it's time for her to wait for the bus. Craig then sits near their front door and starts to meow to let Leatherman know it's time for the bus.
One day, when it was almost time for the bus and Craig was meowing by the door, Leatherman decided to open the door and let Craig out. She thought he wanted to go out just to see where the little girl was going and then hang out with Leatherman. To her pleasant surprise, the cat chose to follow the little girl instead. Craig walked past Leatherman and followed the little girl to the driveway, then the sidewalk, where he sat and waited with her for the bus to arrive.
Leatherman had a "Is this really happening?" moment when she saw the cat do this. Since then, Craig hasn't failed to fulfill his bus stop duty.

Aside from this very serious job, Craig is also known as an all-around entertainer in their home. He loves sitting on countertops and knocking things down to let his humans know that he needs all of their attention.
But he's also very laid-back and chill. Thunder? Lightning?
Those loud and flashy things don't bother Craig. He has the appropriate temperament for a guard cat.

Pictured here is Craig, protector of all little girls and full-time bus stop guard. Also, he's about to knock over those coasters to get your attention.

Leatherman expected Craig to go back once the school bus arrived, but he didn't. Craig sat and attentively watched as his human got onto the bus safely.
He stayed until the bus was out of his sight. Every morning since that first one, Craig and his bestie go out to the sidewalk to wait for the bus to arrive.
To pass the time, they even play a little before the school bus gets there! Can you think of anything cuter?

Here's a full video of one of Craig's mornings as the appointed drop-off cat:
Even when the morning is gloomy and rainy, Craig does what he does best: wait for the school bus with his bestie.
During his breaks, Craig is a part-time adorable machine.

Craig has since become a local celebrity. Kids know that he will be there before they go to school, and he will be there waiting after.
When the bus approaches and the kids see Craig, the little ones cheer for him and call out! Once his favorite little girl is home, Craig follows her around the house.
He plops down next to her and purrs his heart out. He's around her all the time just to make sure she's always safe.
Here's to Craig, the black-and-white cat with a big heart!
