Cat Mom Repurposed Tumbleweed Into A Cowboy Hat For Her Cat
Faye has a talent for turning an ordinary house into a full-on tumbleweed scene. Between her playful energy and all the shedding, her mom, Taylor Nelson, says the fur seems to drift through the home like something out of the Wild West.
After brushing out one especially big pile of fur, Nelson decided to do something a little ridiculous with it, and Faye turned out to be surprisingly into the result. What started as a joke became a tiny cowboy hat moment that was hard not to laugh at.
And yes, Nelson even tested the look on another cat too. Read on.
With all the fur flying around the house, Nelson decided that she should make something with it.
As she is not a very crafty person, she thought it should be something easy, not involving too many technicalities. Keeping all this in mind, she decided to make a cowboy hat with the tumbleweed.

“I’ve seen people online create whole art pieces with their cat’s fur, but I’m not that crafty, so I went with a cowboy hat that, honestly, barely looks like a hat,” Nelson said.
She further added, “I’m sure if someone was into felting, they would have a way better method to make a fur cowboy hat, and the way I did it was probably way wrong. I had so much fur after brushing her that I just smushed it all into a ball and basically molded it like a ball of clay until it looked kind of, barely, like a hat.”
There was still Faye's reaction to consider regarding the fur hat. Considering how hyperactive she is, her mom thought it would be impossible to get her picture taken with the hat on her head.

“For some reason, she just sat there and let me put it on, and when I first put it on, she tilted her head into it like I was petting her and looked so pleased with it,” Nelson said.
“She’s definitely the princess of the house and loves attention, so while I don’t know if she actually cared about the hat itself, I think she knew she looked pretty and was happy to show off.”

Nelson did try out the new fur hat on her cat Spike as well.
Although he was not very interested in it, the hat looked nice on him too. Since Spike has shed little of his fur, Nelson could not make him his own hat.
Nonetheless, he basically slept through the photoshoot that Nelson was trying to do with him and didn't want him to feel left out.

Nelson did not put much effort into making the cowboy hat, although Faye liked it quite a bit.
But she hopes to make more crafty items with the fur in the future instead of letting it go to waste. “It'd be really fun to see what else I can make with all of this fur,” Nelson remarked.
“If I have to live in a fur sandstorm, I might as well make the most of it.”
