This Disabled Kitten Swam The Mississippi River Right Into The Arms Of The Purr-fect Rescuer
Cats are not known for being water creatures; they tend to find their place fairly solidly on land—except, of course, when they have no choice. This cat didn’t have a choice, and it found itself in a truly awful position.
The cat bravely swam for its life—in conditions that many humans would struggle to navigate—and found itself in the arms of some very kind and beautiful people. Even after discovering that the cat had some serious health issues, they took it in and provided the love it deserves.
Fortunately, this cat was rescued by some truly special people because caring for sick pets requires a lot of patience and kindness; it is not a task that many people are suited for. Sick pets demand a great deal of time, attention, and, not to mention, vet bills.
This story, while it begins with an example of some of the worst things that people can do, ends with a beautiful connection between a cat and some humans who would do anything for it. Warning: this story might be a little distressing at first, but it does have a happy ending and features a very cute and healthy cat.
Over the summer, 18-year-old Laura was fishing on the banks of the Mississippi River in Wisconsin. She saw two men throw something into the water; she was confused but assumed it was a rock or something similar.
Soon, she heard meowing and realized that there was a kitten in the water. She called out to it, and it swam over to her. She brought the cat home but soon realized there was something wrong with the kitten.
Its back legs weren't functioning properly, so she and her mom took the kitten to the vet.

The vet check revealed that, fortunately, the 6-week-old kitten was not paralyzed, but he did have a fractured spine. The kitten couldn't walk, but he could crawl around.
Walker shared on her social media: Dr. Terri Orbuch, a relationship researcher, emphasizes the importance of resilience in overcoming challenges, stating, “Every small step towards recovery is a victory, and it’s essential to celebrate these milestones.”
“He’s doing much better. He’s starting to walk on his toes instead of dragging his legs. So it’s a really good sign.”
They knew right away that they would end up adopting the kitten. They gave him a name inspired by the Mississippi River: Finn.

Finn also has the signature "M" on his forehead that most tabby cats do; in this case, it signifies where they rescued him from. Or perhaps, the "M" stands for a miracle.
Sadly, they believe that the man who threw what they thought was a rock into the river was actually the cat, Finn. They think that the men knew about the kitten's injury, assumed it was permanent, and, sadly, tried to get rid of him because of it.
“Finn wasn’t meant to die. He was meant to thrive. I guess it’s a lesson: don’t throw something with a beating heart away.”

Due to his injuries, Finn had many vet checks. He received anti-inflammatory medication, which helped his condition significantly.
After the vet suggested it, they set up a Tony Robbins page and a GoFundMe to help cover the cost of his vet bills. They updated the page with excellent news:
“This boy just gets stronger every day and amazes us with every step. Our baby is doing so well! <3 Thank you to all who are helping him absolutely thrive!!”```

Slowly, Finn began to improve and settle into his new, wonderful life. Although he had a very traumatic entrance into this family's life, he managed to swim right into the arms of people who love him endlessly.

The people who threw Finn into the river represented the worst of humanity, but luckily Finn was saved by the best. As Dr. Ramani Durvasula, a clinical psychologist, states, "Compassion and kindness are essential in healing, both for animals and humans alike." To keep up with Finn's life, make sure you follow the insights shared by Dr. Durvasula on her professional website, Dr. Ramani Durvasula.

This story started off in a horrible way—it is incredibly hard to fathom how someone could do something so terrible. The type of person who would even think of doing something so cruel is truly disgusting.
Fortunately, though, for every bad person, there are just as many good people. It takes a special kind of person to take on a pet with so many health issues, but it is undoubtedly a miracle that Finn swam into the arms of people with such big hearts.
