Russian Trash Sorting Employee Discovers Mysterious Bag, But Is Horrified When He Finds What's Inside
A worker at a waste disposal plant in Ulyanovsk, Russia, recently found something unusual while sorting through the trash on a conveyor belt. Inside a plastic bag, there was a live cat.
Hard to believe, but some ruthless person discarded a live cat in the trash, knowing it would end up in a trash crusher. The conveyor belt in question was the last stage before that.
The cat was fortunate that the waste disposal plant has such diligent workers. The entire rescue was captured on CCTV cameras, showing Mikhail Tukash lifting a white plastic bag from the conveyor belt and cutting it open to reveal a black-and-white male cat.

Sadly, this is not the first time that workers at the plant have rescued abandoned pets. They have saved two turtles and a hedgehog over the past few months, and they are now living at the facility.
"Each of our operators standing at the sorting line makes incisions on each package," says Igor Perfilev, the facility manager.
"The cat survived by a miracle because the garbage truck has its own press. Firstly, he got lucky there. In total, he survived twice, thanks to our operators stopping the sorting line in time, giving the animal a second chance at life," he added.

The Ministry even shared pictures of the cat napping in the office of Environment Minister Gulnara Rakhmatulina. They have also announced a nationwide contest to choose a name for the lucky cat.
