House Cat And A Wild Deer Became Friends And It’s The Most Adorable Thing Ever
Poor Lulu was rescued from a terrible hoarding situation by Orphans of the Storm rescue. They quickly found her a great and loving foster home. However, Lulu was very anxious when she arrived at her foster home. She had never had a real family prior to her arrival, and her foster family knew it would take some time for her to adapt.
“She is very shy and gets scared easily,” Jennifer Burke, Lulu’s foster mom, says. “So we are taking our time with her to properly socialize her and show her that humans can be kind and loving… With time, she has learned to really enjoy being petted and brushed. She even likes her belly to be rubbed! She is incredibly sweet, and it has been such fun to see her start to blossom.”

Lulu shared a room with her foster brother, Felix. They got along really well, but Felix soon found a forever home. Lulu’s foster parents were worried that losing a friend would affect her. Luckily, she soon found friendship again.
A local deer began visiting their backyard occasionally, but about a month after Lulu arrived, she started showing up much more frequently. The family grew very fond of her and named her Dolly. It didn’t take long for Dolly and Lulu to form a special bond.

“I noticed Dolly outside and realized she was within view of our foster room, which is in our basement,” Burke says. “So, I ran downstairs to see if Lulu was looking out the window. We have a cat tree placed in front of the window, and Lulu was on the top perch watching Dolly. And Dolly was watching Lulu!”
Obviously, the pair had some sort of connection, which gave birth to a beautiful friendship, making Lulu’s foster family very happy.

“Lulu was very curious about Dolly,” Burke says. “She didn't seem scared at all. Initially, Dolly would watch Lulu from a distance. But it didn't take long for Dolly to come right up to the window and chew on the branches next to the house. Lulu was a bit hesitant the first time Dolly came up so close. But now, it doesn't faze her one bit. She has even fallen asleep on the perch while Dolly is at the window.”

Dolly now drops by a few times a day, and the family thinks it's because of Lulu. Dolly loves visiting her friend and seems very concerned about her well-being.
“Even if she isn't right near Lulu's window, she seems to check in with Lulu, glancing in her direction frequently,” Burke says.

The other cats in the house don’t share Lulu’s fascination with Dolly, but she doesn’t care. She loves her friend very much. With so much love in this home, Lulu is on her way to recovery. Soon, she will find a new home. Of course, her foster family will miss her.

“Lulu truly deserves an amazing forever person who will be patient and give her the time needed to feel safe so she can be loved fully and spoiled rotten,” Burke says. “But that adoptive home might need to have some deer neighbors!”
