Teen Finds Her Long-Lost Childhood Cat While Volunteering at an Animal Shelter
Hannah Rountree thought she had already said goodbye to her childhood cat for good. When Spunky disappeared during a family vacation, the black-and-white house cat seemed to vanish without a trace, leaving Hannah heartbroken and determined to keep loving animals anyway.
Three years later, that love led her to a local animal shelter, where a routine volunteer shift at Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center turned into something far more emotional. A familiar-looking cat in the catio caught her eye, and the resemblance was impossible to ignore.
What happened next gave Hannah a reunion she never expected.
I was like, is that my cat? It literally looks so much like Spunky, Hannah said.

After doing some investigation, the shelter staff were able to determine that the feline was indeed Hannah's beloved childhood cat, Spunky. Hannah was delighted to have her best friend back in her arms after three years and couldn't believe how fate had brought them back together.
Spunky had been brought to the shelter as a stray and renamed Bear. He was quickly adopted; however, the match didn't stick, which is why he ended up back at the shelter, just in time for Hannah to find him!
This is just like the missing cat who ran back to her hooman after hearing her voice.
Shelter director Wendy Kang said, It's just perfect that she was able to find her pet while helping us.

Hannah and her family welcomed Spunky back with open arms. He's very comfortable… I knew he would just perk up and remember, Hannah said. It was just fate, I feel like.
