Freaky Cat Photo Is Confusing A Lot Of People, And It's Truly A Head-Trip
Some cat photos are cute, and some end up looking like a full-blown optical illusion. This one falls squarely into the second category, because a casual snapshot of two cats somehow turned into a picture that left people staring at it twice.
Reddit user I_spin_bubbles shared the confusing image after catching his cats in a playful moment, and the result looked far stranger than it really was. The post quickly got attention because the photo seemed to show one cat in an impossible position, even though the truth was much simpler.
Once the ribbon came into play, the whole mystery started to make sense, but not before plenty of people had a very weird first impression.
The original photo that was posted by I_spin_bubbles on Reddit:
In the photo, it seems as if the cat's head is detached from its body, but in reality, the photo actually contains two cats, Koda and his sister Lilly.

Here they are, looking healthy and whole.

The two cats are pretty much inseparable:
Koda’s always sneaking up from behind and using all his body weight to play fight, while Lilly loves playing with everything she finds, especially playing fetch. She's only 8 months old and literally half Koda's size and weight, but she plays rough with him all the time.
It’s the same kind of reality-bending trick as these strangely timed cat photos that almost don’t look real.
That playful energy is exactly what made the photo so confusing.

The picture does look as if it's straight out of a horror movie, but what happened is that I_spin_bubbles was playing with his cats using a packing ribbon, and that's when he snapped this confusing photo, creating this weird illusion.
Thankfully, our initial thought after looking at this picture is not what actually happened, and both kitties are perfectly safe and happy.
Turns out the internet just met a very convincing cat illusion.
