Woman On A Solo Trip Finds A Box Of Puppies In A Desert
With our world progressing day by day, you would think that all kinds of cruelty would also significantly diminish—but it turns out, they are still contributing to the heartbreaking statistics every single day. Annually, more or less 10 million animals experience cruelty in the United States, and 97% of these come from farms.
It's even more tragic to think that more than half of these animals that experience this kind of mistreatment and abuse are dogs, whether they are young or old. Some meet their untimely end due to these unjust practices, while others are lucky enough to fall into the hands of humans who have the heart to help them regain a second chance to live their lives—like the story of this particular woman who found a box of puppies abandoned in a 110-degree desert.
Paige Rico just started her fun road trip from California through Utah when it suddenly changed into a rescue mission that transformed the lives of three poor puppies left in the desert. Along her journey, she stopped to take in the sights and went hiking, and luckily enough, she decided to explore a desert spot in Utah.
This led her to discover the tiny puppies, who were already struggling with the heat. Check out their story below!
Paige was walking around on a 110-degree summer day in the desert when she noticed the box.
She approached it and discovered that there were actually three tiny puppies inside! All of them were alive and moving, but it was quite obvious that they wouldn't be able to survive the heat if they were left there for the next few hours.

Her trip was cut short, but these poor creatures needed her. She immediately drove them to the nearest animal hospital, where a vet was able to check on them right away.
The vet then saw that the pups were severely hungry and dehydrated, but they were in good health, fortunately. Two of them weighed 4 pounds, while the third one weighed only 2 pounds.

After being checked, Paige was told that she was free to either take the puppies home or give them to a shelter.
She did not want to put the puppies in a shelter due to the stress that it might cause them, so she decided to take all the dogs home and considered finding homes for them herself. It took her two days to drive back home, and as soon as they stepped into the house, everything became chaotic!
Taking care of the three puppies was certainly not an easy task, especially on such short notice, but Paige was determined to keep them healthy and comfortable for the time being.

The first few days involved these energetic little balls being potty trained and socialized. After that, Paige was able to find a forever home for two of the puppies!
The smallest one, named Breck, formed a deep bond with Paige, and she struggled with the idea of letting him go. He was more timid and shy than his siblings.
To appease her heart, Paige decided to adopt Breck, and now they're taking road trips together! They even visited the site where Paige discovered them, which definitely brought back a lot of memories.
“Even though I saved the puppies, I really felt like they saved me emotionally, because they instantly gave me so much purpose,” she said.

People like Paige are a gift to this world, and it's because of them that these animals still get to see the light of day! If it weren't for her kind heart in saving them, who knows what could have happened to those puppies under the scorching heat?
