Adorable Puppy Who Was Dropped From The Sky By A Bird Of Prey Is Actually A Purebred Dingo
"We have seen lambs, and small dogs picked up on occasion."

Sometimes a story about a puppy can take you on an emotional roller coaster. If you've seen the movie 'The Proposal,' starring Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock, you will remember the scene where an eagle takes the family puppy before dropping it back down from the sky?
What you might not realize is that this actually happens a lot in real life! Small dogs and puppies have been plucked from backyards and front yards by large birds of prey many times over.
Wandi, the dingo puppy, was found by a family in their backyard in Wandiligong, Australia. The family found the cute puppy after they heard him whimpering one morning.
Naturally, the family assumed the puppy was lost, so they left him be. But when no one came looking for a missing puppy, they began to wonder whether Wandi might not be a 'normal' puppy...
After taking the puppy Wandi to veterinarian Rebekah Day, who practices in the nearby town of Bright, they noticed the pup had scratches on his back, which looked like they were from a large bird.

There were many large birds of prey in the area, so the family wasn't surprised.

Rebekah advised that it was not uncommon for small animals like puppies to be taken by the birds. "We have seen lambs, and small dogs picked up on occasion," she said.

When Dingo Discovery Foundation heard about the pup, they got in touch with Rebekah, who was taking care of Wandi.

They decided to send a genetic sample from the puppy to the University of New South Wales to be DNA tested.

When the results came back, the foundation was elated to discover that Wandi was, in fact, a 100% purebred dingo!
Dingos are currently a vulnerable species in danger of extinction, so the sanctuary was delighted to take Wandi into their care. Good luck, little Wandi!
