Even A Thick Fence Can’t Stop This Dog Playing With The Neighbor
Murphy is a playful and happy dog who adores people and other animals. He makes new friends wherever he goes. In fact, he makes them without even leaving his backyard.
A short while ago, his owner, Jo-Hannah Jamieson, let him outside because she assumed the dog needed to do his business. This was typical procedure—nothing out of the ordinary—until she went to check on him.
To her surprise, she saw Murphy going to their fence, where a hand appeared and started petting him. It was obvious that this was a practiced routine that the dog enjoys very much.

The hand belongs to Jamieson’s neighbor, who is obviously a dog person. She doesn’t know when these “playdates” began, but they’ve certainly been going on for some time.
“Every time I let Murphy out, he goes to the back fence to see if my neighbor is there,” Jamieson says. “I think Murphy gets at least one pet a day from him.”
It’s clear that Murphy receives plenty of love and attention from his family, but you can never have too many hugs and cuddles.

Jamieson isn’t jealous at all. In fact, she is very thankful because they’ve been a bit cooped up these days.
“With lockdown and ‘work from home,’ I’m the only person he interacts with. So, I think he likes getting pets from someone else for a change,” she said. “But I’m happy he gets a bit of socialization. He definitely loves company. It’s nice to know that Murphy has neighbors who like him.”
When things get back to normal, she plans on introducing them properly so Murphy can meet the man behind the hand.
