Even A Thick Fence Can’t Stop This Dog Playing With The Neighbor
Murphy has a talent for making friends in the most unexpected place, right along the backyard fence. The playful dog loves people and other animals, and his latest buddy happens to be a neighbor he can reach without ever leaving home.
That routine caught Jo-Hannah Jamieson off guard when she let Murphy outside and noticed a hand reaching over the fence to pet him. What looked like a quick check on the yard turned into proof that Murphy and the neighbor had already built their own little daily ritual.
Now the only mystery is how long this fence-side friendship has been going on.

The hand belongs to Jamieson’s neighbor, who is obviously a dog person. She doesn’t know when these “playdates” began, but they’ve certainly been going on for some time.
“Every time I let Murphy out, he goes to the back fence to see if my neighbor is there,” Jamieson says. “I think Murphy gets at least one pet a day from him.”
A fence is doing very little to slow this friendship down.

Jamieson isn’t jealous at all. In fact, she is very thankful because they’ve been a bit cooped up these days.
“With lockdown and ‘work from home,’ I’m the only person he interacts with. So, I think he likes getting pets from someone else for a change,” she said. “But I’m happy he gets a bit of socialization. He definitely loves company. It’s nice to know that Murphy has neighbors who like him.”
When things get back to normal, she plans on introducing them properly so Murphy can meet the man behind the hand.
Murphy may have found his favorite neighbor already.
Jamieson’s “playdate” is adorable, but see how neighbors built a window for petting furry friends.
