Shelter Dog Hugs Best Friend Just Before She Was About to Put Them Down; Photo Goes Viral in Minutes and the Dog Gets Saved
Two tiny shelter pups, Kala and Keira, were doing the most heartbreaking thing possible, hugging like best friends do, while their time ran out.
At Atlanta's Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, the affectionate, well-mannered pair was getting overlooked, and the staff had a deadline they could not ignore. With adoption hopes fading fast, the workers posted their cuddling photo on Facebook, hoping strangers would see them before someone came to separate their lives.
And then the internet showed up, fast, right before the hallway could become goodbye.
If no one saves us, someone will take her away from me. I’ll see her as she goes down the hallway

The moment Kala and Keira’s deadline was called out in that Facebook post, their cuddles turned into a viral lifeline.
Two dogs at Atlanta's Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, Kala and Keira, appeared to have a dim future. Despite being affectionate and well-mannered puppies, nobody seemed interested in adopting them, so they faced the terrible possibility of being put down.
The workers at the shelter posted a picture of the pair cuddling on Facebook in an effort to find them a loving home

While the shelter staff watched their fear grow, the photo of the two best friends hugging kept spreading on social media.
With little time left, the shelter's workers made one last-ditch effort to save them by posting a picture of the pair cuddling on Facebook in an effort to find them a loving home.
“I’m Kala. This is Keira. We’re so scared in here. The people working in the shelters see how scared we are but just told each other that today is our deadline,” the post reads. “If no one saves us, someone will take her away from me. I’ll see her as she goes down the hallway. She won’t come back, and I’ll cry. They’ll come for me next, and I won’t be as brave.”
Kala and Keira's savior has just intervened, less than two hours after the picture was uploaded to Facebook

Less than two hours after the upload, a savior stepped in, right after the caption warned, “They’ll come for me next.”
Fortunately, they were successful since their current image quickly became popular. Kala and Keira's savior intervened less than two hours after the picture was uploaded to Facebook.
“There are no words to tell you how happy we are that these two best friends are safe and together,” said the staff at the shelter.
Thankfully, these two girls are now happily living in their new home, and we're happy about it

Now that Kala and Keira are safely together in a new home, the “happy ending” isn’t just sweet, it’s proof that a photo can beat the clock.
Thankfully, these two young pups are now content in their new home. The resolution to this story was perfect, and we believe you think so too!
