Wholesome Dog Develops a Special Connection with a Garbage Man She Patiently Waits for Every Week
Lily the Labrador has turned one ordinary garbage route into the highlight of her week. For more than two years, she has waited in her family’s yard in Bedford, New Hampshire, for the same familiar visitor to arrive. He stops for pets, playtime, and treats, while her family has watched the bond grow into something sweet and unmistakable.
Now Lily’s weekly wait has become a small neighborhood tradition, and the reason she keeps showing up at the fence is easy to understand.
Meet Lily the Labrador!
For over two years now, Lily has always waited in her family's yard every week for her best friend to arrive. And it isn't another dog-it's the local garbage man, David!
David always makes sure to give some time to Lily for pets, playtime, and of course, treats, so it's no wonder that the dog is so fond of him.
Lily always takes her spot waiting in their front yard in Bedford, New Hampshire.
She enjoys sitting there and watching people pass by, ready to face any kind of trespasser, especially squirrels, who dare to enter their home's property.

But even though she's wary of potential trespassers, Lily always hopes that a friendly person will pass by and come say hi to her.
She always makes sure to wag her tail at everyone who passes by, including every mailman and canvasser. However, she is often disappointed because no one gives her the kind of attention she craves while observing the streets.

Given that Lily is undoubtedly a smart dog, she began to notice that her family usually brought out their trash every Thursday night. She also observed that a man would take it the next day.
Naturally, Lily began to recognize the pattern. She just knew that the garbage man would be her friend.
“Their relationship has blossomed into the sweetest thing,” one of Lily’s owners, Ishaan Chatterjee, told The Dodo. “We actually give [our garbage man] holiday gifts every year to show our appreciation for how he treats Lily.”
It's really a no-brainer to say that the connection between David and Lily is certainly special. Lily usually treats everyone with love, even those who don't like dogs, but it's safe to say that there is a deeper bond between them.
And if Lily’s yard ever gets messy, you’ll want to follow the unwritten rules of dog poop disposal in unfamiliar territory.
Even though David does bring her treats, Chatterjee truly believes that their friendship is due to the fact that Lily, being a dog, can see the best in people. Lily doesn't really mind who you are or what job you have, as long as you show kindness, she will always make sure to reciprocate that kindness.
“She shows us how to be kinder to others!” Chatterjee said. “It’s amazing what we can learn from animals.”

Even Lily’s weekly routine needs a breather, just like the dog craving respite at that home.
