Adorable Dog Left Behind With Backpack Full Of Toys, Food, And Treats
Baby Girl’s story started with a heartbreaking sight on a Wisconsin street, a tiny dog tied to a fire hydrant with a backpack full of her things beside her. What looked like a cruel abandonment quickly turned into something more complicated, because the note left behind suggested her owners were facing a painful situation of their own.
When Kylie Rose Engelhardt stopped to check on the pup during a walk in Green Bay, she found toys, food, treats, and a message that explained the dog’s name and why she had been left there. The Wisconsin Humane Society later stepped in, and the post about Baby Girl spread fast as people reacted to the sad but hopeful update.
Now the little dog is safe, and her next chapter is already drawing a lot of attention. Read on.
It all started when a resident of the neighborhood stopped to make sure the dog was alright
One day, Kylie Rose Engelhardt was on her usual walk on the streets of Green Bay, Wisconsin when she saw the tiny dog tied to the fire hydrant. At first, she thought the owner just tied the dog there to wait for them but she still stayed to make sure the adorable pup was fine.
After an hour though, it became apparent that no one was coming back for her. So Engelhardt looked through the backpack beside the dog and discovered toys, food, and even treats.
In addition to those, there was also a note from the dog's previous owner saying that the dog's name was Baby Girl and that she was getting left behind. And while this might be despicable at first, the reason behind it will melt your heart.
As soon as the dog's story was posted on Facebook, the pooch immediately went viral
“I initially sat outside with her for an hour keeping her warm waiting for someone to come back but no one did,” Engelhardt wrote on Facebook. After reading the note, she decided to take Baby Girl to the Wisconsin Humane Society.
And as soon as the story and photos of the 5-year-old mix dog were shared on Facebook, she became viral with many local residents of the area expressing that they are willing to adopt her.

That’s when the story took a more emotional turn.
Baby Girl's previous owners were forced to give her up
As it turned out, Baby Girl's previous owners couldn't afford to take care of their beloved pooch anymore because of some medical problems. So in the end, they were forced to give her up.
With this, the Wisconsin Humane Society wrote a powerful and tear-jerking message to Baby Girl's previous owners.
It was obvious they absolutely loved Baby Girl
“First and foremost, we are so sorry you had to part with your best friend,” the organization wrote. “It’s evident just how much you loved her and we can see you did your best while struggling with your own medical complications and challenges of life."
“We see your love in the bag you carefully packed with all of her favorite things. We see your love in the way you secured her leash so she wouldn’t get hit by a car. We see your love in the way you placed her in the middle of a neighborhood where she’d be quickly found,” the letter reads.
“We see your love in how happy and healthy Baby Girl looks. And we see your love in the note you left, pleading for someone to help her when you no longer could.”

And just like that, Baby Girl had a whole lot of people rooting for her.
This situation echoes the girl asking for advice after serially neglectful neighbors kept adopting dogs.
Now, Baby Girl is on track to find her next loving family
After the message, the Wisconsin Humane Society announced that Baby Girl is doing great and will soon be put up for adoption. However, it seems that they won't have a hard time finding her next family.
At least 100 people have already shown up wanting to adopt the sweet pup.
“Rest assured that she’s safe, she’s getting tons of attention from our team, and she’s on track to find her next loving family very soon,” the rescue said. “She loves her walks, toys and performs an adorable ‘sit’ for treats. She’s a happy and affectionate pup.”

It would be easy to judge Baby Girl's previous owners for simply leaving her behind like that, but it was also obvious that they loved and cared for their dog, as shown by the things she has in her bag. They probably had their very own reasons for leaving her like that.
The good thing is that she was found by a good Samaritan and brought to a safe place where she can wait for the next family that will love her. Hopefully, she gets to find them soon.
Baby Girl’s next home can’t come soon enough.
