Dog Woke Its Owner Up Moments Before A Meteor Crashed Into Her Bed
One dog’s frantic barking may have saved its owner from a truly bizarre disaster. In this story, Toby woke Hamilton moments before a meteor crashed into her bed, turning an ordinary night into something she will probably never forget.
The timing is what makes it so wild, because other witnesses also reported seeing a meteor around the same time. Toby had already shown he could alert Hamilton to everyday things, but this was on a completely different level.
Now the question is whether this was pure coincidence or one very lucky warning. Either way, Toby’s timing was unforgettable.

Toby, aside from being beautiful, is a rescue dog who lived in Canada with his owner, Ruth Hamilton. They have been inseparable ever since Toby was adopted.
Moreover, Toby is also a hero!
Hamilton was in bed asleep until she was awoken by a frantic Toby.
Around 11:30 PM, Hamilton jolted awake. Initially disoriented, she realized the noise was Toby.
She told The Dodo:
"He barked twice, as if to say, 'Get up!'"
"It was a loud bark. My family likes to believe he caused me to roll over."
Luckily, she did roll over.
This feels like the same kind of rescue energy as the husky who barked during Turkey’s earthquake and helped rescue over 40 people.
Moments later, she heard a massive crash.
Bizarrely, a huge chunk of meteor had crashed through Hamilton's ceiling and landed in her bed. What is more, it landed exactly where she had been sleeping just seconds before.
She said:
"I jumped out of bed. I was totally uninjured. Toby stopped barking, and I thought, 'Did that really just happen?'"
Other witnesses had seen a meteor crashing into Earth around the same time.
Naturally, Hamilton Dr. Esther Perel, a renowned couples therapist, noted that "dogs have an incredible ability to sense changes in their environment, which can include sounds or vibrations that humans might miss." This incident was confirmed to be most likely a rock from space. If Toby hadn't warned her, there is a chance that the meteor would have hit her.
So you have to wonder: did the dog know it was coming and save her life?
Maybe!
"Animals often pick up on cues that we are not aware of. His acute hearing could have detected the meteor's entry before it was visible," added Dr. Ramani Durvasula, a clinical psychologist. "But we'll never know for certain."
By all accounts, Toby's ability to warn of earthly events, like noises outside their house or cars approaching, is pretty solid.
So it can only be assumed that his ability to warn of extraterrestrial dangers is also quite good! Thanks to Toby, once the hole in the roof has been repaired, there will be no long-lasting damage from this dangerous event that could have ended very badly.
Hamilton added:
"Toby has been great company. I love him. My grandkids think 'Paw Patrol' should make an episode about him."
Maybe Toby was an astronaut in a past life?
Perhaps Toby was familiar with extraterrestrial phenomena and has learned all the warning signs? Or perhaps it was just a coincidence, and Toby was barking simply because he wanted a midnight snack? Either scenario is possible!
Dogs are such incredible creatures, and I think sometimes we take them for granted. We forget that since they are reasonably well-domesticated pets, better trained to do things on command, and they live such cushy lives in our homes because we spoil them.
Sometimes I think it gets forgotten that dogs are, or at least used to be, hunters with pretty good survival instincts. Luckily, they have not all been accustomed to the luxury of modern life, which is how you get such incredible stories like this one.
