Grandpa's Dog Was About To Be Put Down But This Couple Drove For Hours To Save Him
When Ashton Hart heard that his estranged grandpa had died, one question immediately came to mind, did the old man leave behind any pets who still needed help?
That question led Hart and his husband on a three-hour drive to save a dog who was at risk of being euthanized, even though they had never met him before. The couple had recently started fostering and volunteering at PAWS, and Hart had spent years caring about animal welfare, so they did not hesitate.
By the time they finally reached the dog, the situation had already become urgent. What happened next gave him a second chance at a family.
The grieving dog who was given a second shot at being a part of a family
The couple named him Oatmilk Latte. Upon arrival, they saw that the dog was extremely overweight. His fur was also matted and dirty, and he probably had other health issues. The couple didn't back down; Oatmilk Latte is now their dog, and they will do whatever it takes to give him a good life.

Oatmilk Latte on his way to his new home
The dog was exhausted, so they got him into the car and then drove the three hours to Oatmilk Latte's new home.

Here's the video of their first meeting:
Hart and his husband didn't even know Oatmilk Latte, but they drove for hours just to save him. Their dedication is admirable and heartwarming. They are exactly the kind of parents Oatmilk Latte needed.
The three of them suffered a loss together, but their bond with each other is only stronger because of it. We only hope for the best future for Oatmilk Latte and his new family!
It also reminds us of how an abandoned puppy burst into tears when a stranger finally gave it bread to eat.
This is the start of Oatmilk Latte's new life with his new dads
Hart knew that his grandpa loved Oatmilk Latte a lot, but his old age and the state of his health probably prevented him from giving the dog the attention and care he deserved.
The poor pup was clearly heartbroken after losing his long-time companion. He was grieving because, like humans, it's also difficult for dogs to lose someone they love. To Oatmilk Latte, his human was his everything, and losing him took a toll on him.

What started as a rescue turned into a new family.
He's getting familiar with his new surroundings and the new humans he gets to love
Little by little, Oatmilk Latte is moving forward with his life. His sweet and loving nature has made his new parents fall in love with him even more. He is now on a journey to improve his health and adjust to life with his dads.

Wait until you see how the woman rescued the abandoned dog after reading that heartbreaking note with neighbors’ help.
