Dog From Virginia Saved A Fawn From Drowning, Then Stayed By Its Side Until Its Mother Appeared
Harley, a Goldendoodle from Virginia, turned an ordinary day into a heartwarming rescue story when he spotted a fawn in trouble. What started as a simple moment near the water quickly became something much bigger, as the dog stayed close to the baby deer after helping it reach safety.
The fawn’s mother was nowhere in sight at first, so Harley kept watch, licked the little animal dry, and refused to wander off. His owner, Ralph Dorn, shared the photos and video online, and the post spread fast as people reacted to the dog’s gentle behavior.

Ralph was looking for his 6-year-old dog, Harley, one evening after noticing that he was missing. He searched around a lake, knowing it was one of his dog's favorite places to go.
Upon reaching the lake, he saw that Harley was already paddling 200 feet from the shore, carrying a tiny animal by his side. They were unsure how the fawn ended up there, but Harley was determined to help; he immediately jumped into the river and saved the baby deer.

In an interview with People, Ralph said, "Harley didn’t want to leave the fawn. He just kept interacting with it, licking it, and caring for it. We could tell right away, even as a puppy, that he had such a good heart. He has always been like that with children and animals. He loves them all."
That part of the rescue is what really made people stop and smile.

The mother deer and her baby disappeared after that day. However, the following day, Ralph noticed that Harley was restless, so he opened their front door, and that’s when they heard the fawn bleating as if calling Harley to come.
Harley ran into the tree line and found the fawn. The little one stopped bleating, wagged its tail, and they touched noses, sniffing each other. Harley then calmly returned to the house with me.
