Husky Discovers a Zipped Cooler with a Cat Inside and Saves Her Life
A husky named Koda turned an ordinary early-morning walk into a life-saving moment outside a cat rescue in Arizona. What started as a quick stop near a donation bench ended with a zipped cooler, a frightened kitten, and a rescue that nobody saw coming.
Koda and her mom were walking their usual route when the dog suddenly fixated on something unusual outside Fearless Kitty Rescue. Inside the cooler was a black kitten, trapped and struggling to breathe as the morning heat started to rise. The shelter staff quickly stepped in, and the tiny cat was soon on her way to safety.
Now the kitten has a name, a new chance, and one very determined husky to thank for it.

Teryn was surprised by Koda’s excited response and opened the cooler. A black kitten popped her head out and started gasping for air. Even though it was still early in the morning, it was beginning to get hot outside, and the kitten looked thankful to be free.

Teryn called one of the shelter staff, and they took the cat in.
She was shaken up and stayed in freeze mode after the rescue.
Like the dog who found three newborn puppies alive under rubble 28 days after the earthquake, Juliane’s rescue is pure survival.

The tiny black kitten got a name, Juliane, and she is slowly getting used to her new life at the rescue.
She’s still nervous and shy, but she loves being petted and purrs when she starts to relax.
In Danish culture, the name Juliane means “Fearless,” and that fits her perfectly.

But Juliane hasn’t fully recovered yet. Vets found a large mass on her tail, which will require surgery. Once she recovers and feels better, she will be ready to start her search for a new home.
She’s very sweet, very clean, and the kind of cat who keeps to herself.
Thanks to Koda, the tiny kitty has a chance at a happy life.
And if you thought a kitten in a cooler was bad, wait until you see firefighters racing to save a trapped kitten moments before a storm hits.
