Dog Caught On Camera Comforting Baby With His Favorite Toy
Nick Elliot and his wife welcomed a baby girl earlier this year, naming her Macie. When they brought her home from the hospital, she was greeted by her older brother, Tommy.
Tommy is a two-year-old Doberman Pinscher. The Elliots have a very loving and caring relationship with Tommy, which is always reciprocated.
They hoped he would be the same toward his baby sister. Elliot shared:
"We have had him around family and friends, toddlers, and children in the past, and his whole character changes. He gets down to their level and just lies with them, letting them stroke him."
"He is so gentle and careful — it must be a natural instinct."
The Elliots were right about their expectations of Tommy toward their baby girl.

Elliot said, "[We] both greeted Tommy and got him settled before bringing Macie in."
"We let him smell her worn clothes and told him ‘gentle’ ... we brought Macie in, and he was naturally very inquisitive and gentle." He further stated, "It was like he instantly accepted her, as he always wanted to be close but never touched her."

Tommy did more than what was expected of him.
Being a sensitive individual, he not only cared for his sister but also made an effort to cheer her up. "He used to do a little sad whine when she cried for the first few days but has now become accustomed to all the new sounds and smells, so he doesn't bat an eyelid," Elliott explained.
"He regularly wanders past and checks on her in her cot, and each time gives a little tail wag if she’s OK."

One day, Tommy did something spectacular.
Macie was hungry and crying for her bottle while her mom was in the kitchen preparing it for her. Seeing the situation, Tommy stepped in to comfort her.
To do so, he brought his favorite toy, his teddy bear, to her. The parents were surprised by how Tommy handled the situation when they later saw it on the baby monitor.

Elliot shared that, "We looked back on the camera after Hayley discovered [the teddy] in with her, and that's when we saw what he had done."
"His little tail wagging just made it!"
Although only three weeks have passed since Macie was born, Elliot is very confident about her care and safety.
He is sure that her big brother will always look after her well-being.
