Dog Teaches A Lesson Of Team Work By Helping His Friend Get Over His Fear Of Water To Play Fetch
A friend in need is a friend indeed. This phrase fits perfectly for Charlee and Yuma, who have been best friends for eternity.
“Charlee is my mom's golden retriever, and Yuma is ours, but Charlee comes for a few weeks at a time to hang out,” Yuma’s dad, Dr. Alexandra Solomon, a relationship therapist, shared. “Both have their opinions, but really, they just want to hang out together and get as dirty as possible.”
While playing at home, Yuma likes to take charge and tends to be bossy. Charlee cannot win her over to get toys from her.
However, this dynamic flips when they are outside, especially near water.

Charlee hates getting wet, so obviously, she detests swimming. She can tolerate mud, but water is totally out of the question.

Charlee's real test begins when she sees a stick floating nearby or if someone throws a toy into the water. The look of longing and desperation in her eyes is quite clear, but she just can't force herself to go into the water to retrieve it.
This is where Yuma comes in to her rescue. She gets into the water and fetches it out for her.
This behavior of Yuma is completely opposite to her behavior indoors towards Charlee when it comes to sharing her toys. So, for the family, this behavior came as a surprise. Her helpful attitude and kindness towards Charlee made everyone a fan of hers.

“Yuma is very much the alpha,” Michael noted. “What Yuma wants, Yuma gets—which makes her doing this so much weirder.”
“At home, she'd never give up a toy for Charlee—if anything, she barks anytime Charlee has a toy. But when Charlee stands and whines in the water for a stick, Yuma doesn't hesitate.”
Charlee afraid to go into water
Only Yuma can sense Charlee's fear of entering the water and her eagerness to fetch the stick. Yuma doesn't like that her friend is not enjoying herself as much as she is, so to make up for it, she fetches the stick or the toy for her.

Sometimes, it happens that Yuma doesn't give the toy to Charlee after fetching it for her, but she does this probably to tease her. Their bond of love is just so adorable and heartwarming for the whole family.
“It's just so sweet. You can't help but think, ‘We don't deserve dogs,’” Michael remarked.
