Luiz has spent more than twenty years living on the streets of Cianorte City in Paraná, Brazil, and he is rarely without company. The homeless man, who lives with untreated psychiatric problems, has long resisted medical care and most forms of help.
What he does accept is the loyalty of six stray dogs that stay close to him wherever he goes. When Luiz suffered a stroke one night and an ambulance rushed him away, the dogs chased after it and waited outside the hospital until they could see him again.
