Rescue Pit Bulls Save Their Owner's Life During Terrifying Attack
Ellabelle and Ladybug did not have the easiest start in life, but everything changed when Robert McGowan brought them home. The two pit bulls quickly showed him how gentle they could be, and he says their loyalty has been constant ever since.
That bond was put to the test one evening in the garage, when Robert was suddenly attacked by four strangers. What happened next turned his rescue dogs into heroes and left him with a story he will never forget.
By the end of the night, it was clear these two dogs were more than pets, they were his protectors.
One evening, Robert was sitting in the garage when, without warning, four strangers appeared out of nowhere and began attacking him.

It’s like the boxer who rushed to help his French bulldog brother during a seizure while everyone else was gone.
"One just punched me straight in the eye," McGowan said. "I was knocked off my chair."
The attackers demanded that Robert hand over the keys to his vehicle. Dazed and injured, Robert replied that the keys were inside the house.
However, what they didn't know was that Ellabelle and Ladybug were also inside.

When one of the attackers opened the door to the house, the two dogs were there, ready to greet him.
"They chased them out," McGowan said.
"My girls ran into the garage and stood over me. They stood there barking, making it clear that no one was going to hurt me anymore. The four people took off."
McGowan was left with a black eye, but thanks to his dogs looking out for him, he wasn't further injured, and nothing was stolen.

Robert made sure that Ellabelle and Ladybug were rewarded greatly for their heroic acts.
"They got toys and treats," McGowan said. "They got good stuff."
Robert hopes his story might inspire others to open their homes to dogs in need.
"They are rescues. Unwanted dogs. They saved my life," he wrote. "Please consider adopting a rescue. They might save your life too."
