Police Department Allows People To Pay Their Parking Fines By Donating Cat Supplies To Local Shelter
It's not uncommon today for different organizations to team up with animal shelters to initiate change. We've heard of programs for children to practice their reading to help settle dogs with anxiety, and pairing kittens in need of homes with assisted living residents.
Now, you can even pay off your parking fines by donating cat supplies to a shelter. The initiative came about when two Indiana organizations had a brilliant idea!
The Muncie Animal Care & Services and the Muncie Police Department decided to team up when the shelter became overrun with cats and kittens in need of homes. The police department wanted to help, so they came up with the idea for people to have the option to donate cat supplies to the shelter in lieu of paying their parking tickets.
Anyone interested in participating was able to drop off donations at the shelter or even have the police come and collect donations from their homes. The campaign was a great success, and donations came pouring in!
"We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from the community, and this is such a wonderful opportunity to help your local shelter," the organization wrote on Facebook. "Thank you to the Muncie Police Department for putting this together!"
