Police Department Allows People To Pay Their Parking Fines By Donating Cat Supplies To Local Shelter
Sometimes the simplest ideas are the ones that get people talking, and this one turned parking fines into a cat-supply drive. In Muncie, Indiana, the local animal shelter was stretched thin with cats and kittens, and the police department stepped in with a creative way to help.
Instead of paying parking tickets the usual way, people were given the option to donate cat supplies to Muncie Animal Care & Services. Donations could be dropped off at the shelter or picked up by police, and the response was immediate.
It was a small swap with a big payoff, and the community showed up fast.
The police department came up with the brilliant idea!
To accept donations of cat supplies in lieu of parking fines.
"Pay your parking tickets in cat food!"
And it worked!
Donations came pouring in.
People clearly liked the idea.
And started piling up.
Such a brilliant idea!
