TikToker Saves Ducklings Trapped In A Storm Drain And Reunites Them With Distressed Mama Duck
Crystal Guinnane and her husband, Gary, were just trying to get through a normal day in Manteca, California, when a distressed mama duck basically interrupted lunch plans.
It was 85-degree heat, and the quacking outside a storm drain gate sounded urgent, like something was very wrong right now. Crystal noticed the mama duck acting rattled, and when they pulled over to investigate, they found ducklings trapped down in the drain, scrambling to escape while the grate kept everything stuck in place.
What happened next turned a quick roadside stop into a full-on rescue mission, and the ducklings still remember it.
It's always heartwarming to see people helping animals in need—especially in a world that seems full of humans who only want things for themselves and wouldn't bother with anything that won't give them some sort of recognition.
But alas, there are still humans in this world who continue to prove that wrong. This particular incident happened when a couple—bless their hearts—rescued a group of ducklings that were trapped in a storm drain gate.

The couple was Crystal Guinnane and her husband, Gary. They are residents of Manteca, California, and they were on their way to lunch when they suddenly noticed a distressed duck just standing outside a storm drain.
It was scorching 85-degree weather, so they immediately thought they had to help. They heard her distressed quacking—which indicated that whatever was troubling her was urgent.
With her motherly instincts, Crystal immediately sensed that the mama duck was in need of their help. She said:
“My maternal instincts told me that something was amiss.”
And so they pulled over and investigated. They saw that the baby ducklings had fallen down the drain and were attempting to escape.
Of course, the couple intervened.
Gary lifted the grate and went down into the storm drain, embarking on an impromptu journey to rescue the poor ducklings.
He transported each duckling to safety.

In another TikTok update, Crystal showed the reunited family of ducklings, already swimming together in a nearby pond. This was after Crystal and Gary returned from their lunch.
Unfortunately, two of the ducklings weren't able to survive—one was found lifeless, while another met its demise in a parking lot. But thanks to the couple, all was well with the seven other ducklings.
Crystal and Gary didn’t wait around once they heard that frantic quacking, they just pulled over and got to work.
It’s like the “super mom” duck that cared for 56 ducklings at once.
That’s when Gary lifted the storm drain grate and went down into the drain to retrieve the ducklings one by one.
After Crystal and Gary carried each baby duck to safety, the reunion looked like something out of a nature documentary.
Still, not every duckling made it, because one was found lifeless and another later died in a parking lot.</p>
"We reside near Bass Pro Shop, where a large lake is located. Each spring, we make it a tradition to visit and observe the ducklings. We did not anticipate encountering baby ducks in the summertime," says Crystal.
Not all heroes wear capes indeed, and we hope to see more of Crystal and Gary in this world. What do you think?
