Chonkiest Lynx Cat in The World Has Died At The Age Of 15 From A Heart Condition
Rufus, a famous lynx at Schweinfurt Wildlife Park in Bavaria, Germany, became known around the world for his size as much as for his laid-back personality. The 15-year-old cat, often described as the park’s fattest lynx, spent much of his time eating and sleeping, and his weight eventually climbed to 48 kg, or 105.8 lbs.
His condition changed after he was spayed, which reportedly reduced his interest in chasing females and mating. In the end, Rufus developed a heart condition tied to age and obesity, and the park later made the difficult decision to put him down after his breathing became severely affected.
He also left behind a surprising pop-culture footprint, thanks to a viral meme that turned him into an internet celebrity.
Schweinfurt Wildlife Park management stated that the large cat had to be put down on May 13 after severe shortness of breath began to seriously affect his quality of life.
Despite veterinary treatment, his health worsened dramatically, and the vets suggested that they should end his suffering, which the management accepted with a heavy heart.

The lynx became famous after one restaurant, Pluckers Wing Bar in Texas, made a meme to promote their dishes, using a photo of Rufus with his belly on full display and a caption: “Me with a belly full of wings wondering if I should order fried Oreos.”
This image received many shares and a lot of love, and Rufus became a celebrity. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to enjoy his fame for very long. The only consolation is that he will continue to live on in our memories and the adorable memes.
