One-Week-Old Puppy Gets Stuck Under The Porch Deck; Firefighters Come To The Rescue and Reunite It With Its Mother
One-week-old puppies are supposed to be sleeping, snuggling, and figuring out the world one tiny blink at a time. This one had other plans. Instead of drifting under a warm mom, it ended up wedged under a porch deck, trapped in the dark like it had wandered into the wrong place and never found the exit.
Mount Pleasant, Texas firefighters got the call after someone reported a lost puppy. Crews from Station 1 arrived and went into trench rescue mode, carefully excavating beneath the house’s shelter to reach the newborn. The complication was simple but brutal: the pup was so young its eyes were still closed, and it was stuck where no one could just reach in and grab it.
And yes, the best part is that the rescue ended with the pup reunited with its mom.

The crew’s photos show that careful excavation, because a seven-day-old pup is basically the size of a snack and twice as easy to miss.

Once the firefighters pulled the tiny gray-white pup free, the whole point was to get it back to the mother it was separated from.
The picture-perfect puppy has a tiny build and is distinguished by a pink nose, gray-white fur, and short legs. The average time it takes for puppies to open their eyes is 10 to 14 days.
The dog in the pictures was just seven days old and still had its eyes securely closed. Fortunately, the rescue effort was successful in reuniting the little pup with its mother.
