These 19 Enchanting Photos of Red Foxes Dusted With Snow Will Make Your Day
Red foxes already have a way of looking magical, and these snow-covered portraits make them even harder to scroll past.
Wildlife photographer Roeselien Raimond braved freezing conditions to capture foxes in the middle of a winter storm, turning a harsh day outdoors into a series of striking images. Living in the city does not stop her from heading into nature for long stretches, even when the weather gets uncomfortable fast.
The result is a set of photos that feel quiet, cold, and oddly peaceful all at once.
Roeselien Raimond is a Dutch photographer

Her passion for wildlife motivates her to endure extreme weather just to get that perfect shot

She adores foxes

“It was -12°C (10.4°F) when I photographed these foxes,” Raimond says.

She has spent years observing foxes, and that patience shows in every frame.
"These temperatures are considered cold here"

“I was lying in a fierce snowstorm and became completely absorbed in the moment.”

It was only when it got dark that I realized how hungry and hypothermic I had become.”

However, the results of her hardships are worth it

These photos are amazing

Just look at how peacefully the fox is enduring the storm

It knows the storm will pass eventually

“I have now been studying fox behavior for over a decade, and I have had the opportunity to meet many foxes,” Raimond says

The red fox is the largest of the true foxes and one of the most widely distributed members of the order Carnivora, being present across the entire Northern Hemisphere, including most of North America, Europe, and Asia, as well as parts of North Africa.
They can easily adapt to weather conditions, and the cold doesn't bother them at all.
These snow-dusted fox moments are similar to how the photographer tracked Canada’s elusive lynx, one of the world’s rarest cats.
“I could never have imagined that a wild predator could have such a gentle disposition.”

"They are also very intelligent animals with a complex nature."

"That makes them interesting to follow.”

We couldn't agree more with the photographer

These animals are amazing

And they don't deserve the bad reputation they have.

They look so innocent.

In this series, the fox subjects appear to be entirely at ease in the weather. The fox has its eyes closed in many photos as snowflakes coat its thick fur, and it rests in the layers of snow in others.
So in touch with nature, and they're so obviously enjoying the moment.
We could learn a lot from these animals.
