Firefighters Bid The Sweetest Farewell To Their Deceased Station Dog Who Served Them For Years, Confers A Title On Him
Every day, firefighters in the Chilean city of Iquique risk their lives to protect the people, but it is their heartfelt eulogy for a deceased four-legged crew member that has garnered widespread media attention. Negro, a lovely dog, stayed with the first responders of the Iquique Fire Department for more than ten years.
He served as the station dog, keeping an eye on things while the firefighters were on calls and being there to greet them when they returned with a wagging tail. Undoubtedly, the dog's cheerful presence helped to reduce the strain on those around him while they went about their frequently dangerous tasks, and it enhanced the pleasure of the long stretches of silence in between.
The dedicated dog experienced a period of deteriorating health before passing away at the age of 14.
“This afternoon, one of our ranks – our four-legged firefighter – left the earth,” the fire department stated online. “We appreciate all the years you’ve spent with us. We’ll never forget you.”
Negro's coworkers went above and beyond to recognize him, which is truly heartwarming. The board of directors for the department decided to go one step further and confer the dog with the honorific title of "honorary fireman" along with the respect that goes with it.
