This Indiana Shelter Hits A Milestone By Adopting Out All Their Animals
Harrison County Animal Control Shelter in Indiana just reached a milestone that most shelters only dream about, every animal in its care has been adopted. After 13 years of caring for cats and dogs, the staff and volunteers finally got to celebrate an empty shelter, and the news quickly drew a wave of happy reactions online.
The update means no more waiting kennels, no more cages filled with tiny paws, and no more meows or barks echoing through the building. For everyone involved, it was the kind of ending that makes all the hard work feel worth it.
And the photos of those empty spaces say it all.
They're totally empty!
And the news has gone totally viral! Over 1,000 people have shared the post on Facebook, and more have joined in the celebration on Reddit.
The shelter says that the participation of people on social media is a significant part of why the shelter is now empty.

And if you think “they’ll never get adopted,” remember the dog crying real tears when no one chose her.
Yay for social media!
"We attribute our adoption success to the social media community," shelter office manager Amber Brewer said in an interview.
Look at these adorable faces!
The shelter uses social media to post about new animals that are up for adoption or those they've found that might be lost, and when people share these posts, it helps many more individuals see the adorable animals and assist them in finding their way to where they belong.
"Their posts on social media are instrumental in maximizing the visibility of every animal, from those available for adoption to stray animals being reunited with their families," Brewer said. "They truly make a huge difference."
