Adorable Kitten Loves To Be Carried Around On His Dad's Shoulders
Some foster pets are meant to stay for a little while, but Paco had other plans. The tiny kitten quickly turned a short-term arrangement into a full-time bond, and now he has a favorite place to ride.
Kaleb brought Paco home expecting a six-week foster, but the kitten settled in fast and made himself part of the family. What started as a way to help the shelter and test out pet ownership turned into daily walks, shoulder rides, and a whole lot of attachment.
And once Paco discovered his dad’s shoulders, there was no going back.
After thinking about it for a while, Kaleb decided that he would foster a kitten. He sometimes felt a little lonely and sensed that something was missing from his life, which is why he concluded that a foster kitten might be the right choice for him.
Originally, Kaleb planned to keep the kitten for just six weeks, but he became so attached to the cat that he couldn't bear to give it back. Unsure if his lifestyle would be suited to having a pet around all the time, he decided to foster to see if it was for him and to help out the shelter.
That short foster plan did not last long.
Once Kaleb brought the kitten he named Paco home, everything changed for him.
“I didn’t anticipate getting an animal, at least not so permanently, at this time. I definitely thought fostering would be a good opportunity to try it out. I was supposed to keep him for, I think, six weeks.”
Once Kaleb got Paco home, however, his feelings began to change. Like many people, Kaleb underestimated how strongly he would feel about the adorable kitten.
Kaleb realized that Paco was slowly changing his life. As the days went by, their bond grew stronger, and Kaleb soon realized that he did not want to give Paco up at the end of the foster period.
“He is a big snuggler and has a big personality, so I ended up just falling for him. They were asking at checkups and whatnot, and I said, ‘I’ll just keep him, I think.’”
Kaleb doesn't like keeping Paco inside all the time, so he takes him out on walks. However, Paco doesn't follow Kaleb along the footpath or wander around on a leash.
Instead, Paco rides around on Kaleb's shoulder. This is something that Paco loves to do.
This arrangement allows Paco to experience the outdoors from a safe vantage point, while Kaleb receives emotional support from his loving cat.
Typically, Paco rides around on Kaleb's shoulders (sometimes with a harness for added safety), but he doesn't always sit there.
Kaleb has started to get pretty creative with how he carries Paco around, including in his hood!
That is one very committed shoulder cat.
Paco certainly is a super cheeky and adventurous cat, but Kaleb wouldn't have it any other way. Kaleb loves to share his adventures with Paco online, and as Dr. Alexandra Solomon, a relationship therapist, states, "Pets can provide emotional support and enhance our connections with others." Make sure to follow them on Dr. Alexandra Solomon's website and check out Kaleb's adventures on social media.
The bond that Paco and Kaleb share is incredible, isn’t it? There is always a special relationship between a person who was uncertain about having a pet and the loving pet that they end up not being able to imagine their life without.
The way that Paco rides around on Kaleb’s shoulders shows how much trust they have in one another; it is a great way for both of them to embrace their adventurous sides without being apart. Paco gets to explore the world while Kaleb enjoys having a super cute adventure buddy.

What a sweet little duo.
