Two Lonely Kittens Who Lost Their Moms Become Best Friends In The Care Of Their Foster Home
Animals and people are so alike. We are all social beings.
We all need someone to care for and someone who will be there for us. Sometimes, we find them in unexpected places.
Take a look at our two heroes. Foster care brought these two kitties together, and they quickly became family.
Monique and Stranger Danger were both single kittens trying to fill up on formula so they could grow big and strong enough to find a loving home. On their own, they were lonely little kittens with no feline mom or siblings to play with.
But together, they were a family.
The initial weeks of a kitten's life are spent learning how to be a cat from their mother and siblings. Kittens learn not just how to play and that mom makes the best milk, but also how to communicate with other cats and the rest of the world.
Kittens can become vulnerable and lonely if they miss out on this crucial period of socialization. When cat fosters receive singletons, they know just what to do, and the results are usually charming and fluffy friendships!
Take a look at this amazing and adorable story about true friendship:
Monique found herself on her way to Stranger Danger’s side after she was born at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA) in Virginia to an unwell mother. Her three siblings died, leaving her alone in the care of Paula, a critical care foster mother. But she wouldn’t be a lonely kitten for long.
Monique and Stranger Danger both came from broken families

Stranger Danger, or SD for short, was also in Paula's care, but the unexpected arrival of a litter of 4-week-old kittens weighing as much as 2-week-old newborns caused a shift in Paula's and her colleague fosterer Penny Richards' rosters. Penny received the underweight litter of flame point kittens in a "wild ride," but one look revealed they were in such horrible condition that they needed Paula's critical care expertise.
As a result, a swap was made to ensure that all of the kittens received the finest possible care. Penny received two gorgeous kittens that were meant to be her family and best friends as a reward.
Monique and SD were wonderful together.
They were both sick

And lonely

Monique and SD, both lovely and only a week apart in age, demonstrate how diverse kittens can be. Penny says that “Monique is such a lovebug.”
She loves to flop into Penny's lap for belly rubs after a big bowl of chow. She's a sweetheart who is easy to please, while SD, on the other hand, is a drama queen who expects fulfillment.
"SD is the king of complainers and sings me his song of sorrow all day long. Anyone would think this chunky boy was being underfed,” she added.
But then they found each other

These two kittens are inseparable

What do the two have in common, though?
“These two are some of the chunkiest kittens in town,” Penny said. “Especially SD with his full-bodied figure.”
“Move over avocado bod, watermelon bod is in this summer.”
Monique and SD were previously lonely kittens, but now they have found family and companionship in each other. And that's wonderful.
