All You Need Is Love – This Shy Kitten Wouldn’t Come Out Of Her Hiding Spot Until She Was Offered A Hug
Amelia was just a shy tuxedo kitten trying to stay invisible. Found during a trap-neuter-release program in Burlington, North Carolina, she was hungry, scared, and happiest when she could hide under a blanket.
That changed once Sparkle Cat Rescue placed her with a foster volunteer, and later brought her to an adoption event where one couple noticed the tiny cat everyone else had missed. What happened next turned a nervous shelter kitten into the center of a very sweet rescue story.
All it took was one hug.
Meet Amelia. She is a shelter cat.

Staff and animal-loving volunteers were concerned about Amelia. “We discussed getting a small box for her to get in, so she would feel more comfortable and safer.”
But fate intervened. A couple stopped in front of Amelia's kennel in the hopes of adopting a cat at the event.
They couldn't see the anxious kitty, but as they looked closer, they saw the adorable tuxedo kitten cowering behind the blanket with her ears flat. The bashful kitten sweetheart had reverted to her old ways.
Despite this, the pair felt driven to meet with her. Amelia calmed down immediately after being lured out of the cage.
She climbed up to her new mother's neck and snuggled in, content in the knowledge that she had found her family. She was the one, and the couple knew it.
. She was at an adoption event, but the activity and noise were too much for a tiny kitten who was shy. So she hid under a blanket.

That tiny moment changed everything.
This is similar to the tiny kitten that showed up in a homeowner’s yard.
But then fate intervened. A couple stopped in front of Amelia's box and offered her a hug. And she accepted.

Now Amelia has a happy and loving forever home

While witnessing a new family forming, Brittany remarked, “Amelia is so happy and so in love with her humans. She completely picked them.”
Amelia quickly made herself at home in her new surroundings. She's developed into a kitten whose only concern is which toy to play with next. Hugs and cuddles are abundant, and Amelia is content with her cozy existence.
Amelia and her future home were reunited thanks to the magic of animal rescue specialists and volunteers, who took her from a stray kitten to a spoiled lap cat.
And now the shy little kitten has exactly where she belongs.
