Man Gets Reunited With His Dog That Has Been Missing For Over A Year After Getting A Call On His Birthday
Losing a dog is definitely one of the worst feelings for a dog parent, and it's not something we would wish upon anyone. It's as painful as losing a human friend, or even worse when they are all that their parents have.
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 93% of lost dogs are eventually recovered, and lost dogs can survive on their own for months or even years. Pets usually run away because of loneliness, acute boredom, or simply out of curiosity.
However, that doesn't justify the pain and anxiety we feel, especially during the first few days after they go missing. After weeks of seeking help, some dog parents may give up and let fate take its course.
And like a miracle, this is exactly what happened to a certain fur dad named Max Maxwell. He frantically searched for weeks when his dog first went missing but lost all hope of finding him when there were no signs of the dog returning home.
Fortunately, his dog eventually found its way home, but by the time he was located, Maxwell had already traveled across the country to Los Angeles, California. Check out their story and how they found their way back into each other's arms!
Meet Kodak.
Kodak had been missing for over a year, and Maxwell almost gave up on finding him until Kodak was eventually located.

After over a year of separation and soul searching, Maxwell finally received a call from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) on his birthday that brought good news—they gave him the best present of all: the return of his dog!
The fur dad said that someone discovered Kodak just outside Indianapolis in Indiana. He was microchipped, which made it easier to find him!

However, Maxwell had already moved to California.
The only problem they faced was how to get Kodak out to reunite with him. Fortunately, they were able to book Kodak a flight with Pilot Julian Javor, the founder of Pet Rescue Pilots.

The flight went smoothly for Kodak, and at long last, Kodak and Maxwell finally found their way into each other's arms, embracing their reunion after waiting for over a year.
The moment was incredibly sweet and emotional—you can't deny how much they truly missed each other!

If you are a dog parent yourself, take this as a sign to microchip your pets just in case you both find yourselves in a similar situation. You never know what might happen the next day!

Reuniting with long-lost pets will always feel like they have been resurrected—because you might never know what happened to them if they don't return. Fate is definitely a sneaky thing, and you can't and shouldn't always rely on it because not all stories like this get their happy endings!
