Baby Lion and Chimpanzee Win Each Other's Hearts, and Their Unique Bond Wins the Internet
Lion cubs and chimpanzees are not supposed to be friends, but Binta and Limbani clearly missed that memo. At the Zoological Wildlife Foundation in Miami, the young pair have turned an unlikely match into a playful bond that has people stopping mid-scroll.
Binta, a 6-month-old lion cub, and Limbani, a 3-year-old chimpanzee, have been growing up together and wrestling like they have known each other forever. Their rough-and-tumble play has made them internet favorites, even though one is a future predator and the other is usually the one that would be in danger.
That strange little friendship is exactly why people cannot look away. Read on.
Unlikely Friendship

The two were both born at Miami's Zoological Wildlife Foundation, and their bond started from the very first day they met, despite their age difference. Binta, the lion cub, is only 6 months old, while Limbani, the chimp, is already 3 years old.
Despite this, nothing stops the pair from wrestling and rolling around on the ground every opportunity they get when they see each other. It's always a nonstop fun time when these two are together.
Recently, footage of the two rolling around on the grass began circulating on the internet. As expected, it instantly won the hearts of millions of viewers.
The two were simply cuddling and pushing each other around like two little kids having the best time of their lives. It’s this simplicity and purity of their bond that makes it hard not to love them instantly.
That video made the friendship impossible to ignore.
A Playful Bond.

“Our goal is to educate the public about the dangers these animals face in the wild and what can be done to help protect them,” said Matthew Dillon, Communications Director at the Zoological Wildlife Foundation. “Binta has known Limbani since birth, and clearly they’ve adapted a play style that suits them both.”
Despite his young age, Binta’s teeth are already very sharp. They could hurt Limbani if he really bit hard enough.
The chimp doesn’t seem to mind, though. Nothing stops Limbani from wrestling and playing with his best bud.
Beyond just having fun and getting a bit of exercise, their bond and playtime do a lot for the growing cub. It’s helping him learn and develop a social life.
For Limbani, who is best known for his friendly spirit and cleverness, he doesn’t seem to have any plans to leave his best bud.
This is the same kind of “Lion King moment” as the majestic lion embracing a cub in a heartwarming scene.
Even with sharp teeth and very different instincts, they still act like old friends.
