Man Discovers Rare And Exquisite Beetle With Shell Like Metal And People Could Hardly Believe It’s Real
Some discoveries are so unusual they stop you in your tracks, and this one came straight from a garden in Costa Rica. Michael Farmer was out on his land in Aguas Zarcas when something tiny and shiny caught his eye.
What looked like a coin under the leaves turned out to be a living Chrysina limbata beetle, a rare insect known for its metallic, shell-like appearance. Farmer was stunned by how striking it looked, and he carefully lifted it for a closer look before snapping photos of the find.

"I have never seen anything like this in my entire life. It was like a mirror... definitely one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen."

It turns out that these small creatures are as unusual and distinctive as they are rare. Although they used to be quite prevalent in Costa Rica and other South American nations, they are now only occasionally seen.

Their population has drastically decreased, primarily as a result of habitat loss and individuals who catch and sell them to collectors.
