Don Chatten was enjoying a walk with his two dogs at the park; it was quite chilly outside in Buffalo, New York.
They were at Ellicott Creek Park when a woman approached Don to ask for help because she could not find her dog. Don, of course, helped the woman, and it didn't take long before he spotted the tiny dog.
The dog was struggling to stay above water in an icy pond right next to them.

Don decided to call 911 for assistance, but he quickly realized that he might not have time to wait for help because the dog was in danger.
Don took it upon himself to help the dog in need. He tried crawling on top of the ice, but it quickly broke beneath him; however, he eventually managed to reach the desperate dog.

It’s the same kind of determination as the brave police officer who rescued a lost dog in a snowstorm.
Don explained for WKBW News
“The dog spotted something in the water, a duck or something, and started to chase it. I knew it wasn’t very deep in this part because I used to come here when I was a kid.”

Here's more information on the actions Don took to save this furball.
