Precious Cat Went Missing Ten Years Ago Is Finally Reunited With Her Original Human, But It's Not All Sunshine
A missing cat story rarely comes with a happy ending after ten long years, but Mishka's reunion with her original owner brought one of those rare moments that stops people in their tracks.
The Birman cat vanished from Georgia Tsatsaris's Chadstone home in 2010, only to turn up a decade later in Melbourne after a construction worker noticed her lingering around his worksite. When Mishka was finally scanned for a microchip, the call went straight to Tsatsaris, who had since moved and rebuilt her life far from where the cat first disappeared.
Now Mishka is back in her owner's care, but the reunion comes with a painful catch. Read on.

After the construction worker finally gained the cat's trust, she allowed him to pick her up, and that's when he noticed that the kitty was in dire need of help, so he called the vet. The vet called Ms. Tsatsaris with the good news the moment they checked Mishka for an ID chip.
Her owner immediately rushed to the vet, and as soon as she walked in, she broke down with relief when she saw her long-lost cat.

That reunion came with a lot more emotion than either of them expected.
This feels like a 25-year-old rescue cat tearing up at homecoming with its owner.

"When I saw her looking so defeated and bony, I just broke down. She doesn't look anything like she used to, and I couldn't even pick her up; she was so emaciated," she reflected. "The emotional impact of such a reunion can be profound and transformative."
"I have no idea what she's been through, which breaks my heart, but when I went to see her for the first time, I said her name, and she let out a soft meow as she curled up to me and rubbed her face against my cheek," she added. "Animals have an innate ability to sense our emotions and respond with empathy."
Miss Tsatsaris's savings were depleted by the pandemic, and the money raised by the GoFundMe campaign could help save Mishka's life.

While Mishka was gone, Ms. Tsatsaris got divorced and moved out of her Chadstone home, now residing 40 kilometers away in Karingal. In an unfortunate twist, Mishka ended up in poor health, which creates a substantial risk of death if she isn't given immediate medical attention.
When Mishka was found, she was emaciated, dehydrated, and suffering from a severe upper respiratory infection. Ms. Tsatsaris is now working tirelessly to raise funds for Mishka's treatment. She expressed her hopes, stating, "She has been living on the streets for a very long time, and now she requires 24-hour care to fight the infection and gain weight to finally come back home, to live her remaining years in a warm, loving home. She's been fighting to stay alive, but each day she's getting stronger."
