Neglected Cat Received A Life-Changing Makeover And Found Her Forever Home Two Days Later
Fluffer’s rescue story starts with a shocking sight, a cat so badly matted that it was hard to tell what she looked like at all. After a call to the Arizona Humane Society, Julie Bolchalk stepped in, and the team got to work on a case that needed a lot of patience and care.
The 4-year-old cat was eventually transformed back into her gray and white self, with nearly 2 pounds of matted fur removed during the grooming process. What happened next made the whole rescue even sweeter, because Fluffer found a forever home just two days later.
Her makeover was dramatic, but her happy ending came even faster.
The AHS Emergency Animal Medical Technicians responded to a call for help after Fluffer's owner sadly passed away.

It took around an hour for the team to remove all of Fluffer's matted fur.

That kind of transformation takes a lot of patience.

She came through the procedure like a champ.
"She is an absolute sweetheart, so much so that she required no sedation during her procedure, which is extremely unusual when caring for cats who are likely in pain," said Bretta Nelson, AHS' Public Relations Manager.

"As a nonprofit organization that cares for the Valley's sick, injured, and abused homeless pets, our community, adopters, and donors are critical to the work that we do, and we couldn't be more grateful for their support. For people interested in making a gift, they can do so here," Bretta said.

Julie Bolchalk, the team member who responded to the call, said she has never seen matting this severe.

Julie knew this was one of the worst cases she had seen.
Just like a neglected cat who shed 2 pounds of matted fur after grooming, Fluffer’s transformation was dramatic.
"I have seen some rather horrific cases in my time rescuing animals, but I had never seen matting this bad—it was larger than her entire body. Yet, she was very sweet and was groomed without having to be sedated, which is a miracle," she said.

Fluffer is doing well and now lives with her new family in Glendale.

Now she gets to be a normal cat again.

Here's how people reacted to the transformation.

The comments were full of relief and praise.
