A Circus Tiger Cub That Had Been Badly Neglected Gets Rescued And Makes A Remarkable Recovery
Aasha’s rescue story starts in a heartbreaking place, with a tiger cub so neglected that her tiny body barely looked real. Found in terrible condition by Vicky Keahey, founder of Texas’ In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center, Aasha had been denied proper care for years and was in desperate need of help.
She weighed just over 30 pounds, about what a three-month-old cub should weigh, even though she was nearly nine years old. That shocking discovery led to a long recovery, and Vicky quickly realized this was going to take patience, treatment, and a lot of time.
What happened next turned Aasha into a remarkable example of survival and recovery.
When Vicky Keahey, founder of Texas’ In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center, found her, Aasha was extremely sick

She discovered that the poor tiger cub was part of a traveling circus and had been denied access to food because she was housed in a cage with a larger animal.

She also had ringworm, a skin ailment, and the lack of medical attention only exacerbated the situation. Vicky decided to take Aasha and care for her.
She weighed no more than 30 pounds, which is the weight of a three-month-old cub, but she was almost nine

She was subsequently taken to a solitary enclosure at In-Sync Exotics. Vicky noted that most of Aasha’s body was covered in bald spots, along with dry, cracked, darkened, and bleeding skin.
Vicky decided to take Aasha away and care for her

Every day, twice a day, I would go in and give Aasha medications and spend time with her. I knew I was going to have to handle her in order to get her well.
It’s like the time Aalborg Zoo asked people to donate “healthy” unwanted pets for predators.
Her recovery started slowly, but it was already easy to see progress.

After just a few weeks of proper care, the situation for the wild kitten never looked better. The kind-hearted Vicky said that after eight weeks of treatment, one could see little patches of fuzz sprouting back where there had previously been bald spots.

"Within eight months, she looked like a real tiger, and it was time to see how she would react to other tigers"

There are several ways you can assist the animal or animals involved, depending on the circumstances. For Aasha, it took approximately eight months before she made a remarkable recovery.
"Within eight months, she looked like a real tiger, and it was time to see how she would react to other tigers," Vicky says. Right now, the tiger cub is unrecognizable, as you’ve already seen!
Aasha’s transformation is hard to believe.
