A cat in China has gone viral because of its unique facial features. The cute feline appears to be 'permanently sad' due to its unusual, furrowed-brow-like markings.

People became fascinated with the cat's seemingly sad expression after a woman shared video footage of it online. The university student, known on social media as, 'Xin,' shared the video on Douyin (China's answer to TikTok), last week.

Since then, the video has gained nearly 2 million views! Many people have left comments, wondering why the cat is feeling sad. "What happened to you? Why are you looking so sad!" one person wrote. While another replied, "Hahaha, the cat is a real-life emoji!"

"This is hilarious. It reminds me of my headteacher, who was always angry at me, haha," posted another user.

Xin has visited the feline often since first posting the video.

She said on her Douyin page that, although the feline is believed to be a stray, she could not bring it home as she already has a cat.

Another video shows Xin bringing the sad-faced cat food and water.

The popular video comes after footage of Juno 'The Angry Cat' from the U.S. also gained a massive following on social media.
