Praying Mantis Chills On Baseball Player's Head During Game
Baseball usually sticks to nine players on the field, but the Washington Nationals briefly had an unexpected tenth. During Monday night’s game against the Phillies, a praying mantis landed on center fielder Victor Robles’ hat and stayed put long enough to steal the spotlight.
At first, Robles seemed completely unfazed, even as the insect perched on his head in the ninth inning. Later, he made a gesture toward his teammates, with the tiny visitor still along for the ride, and the moment quickly turned into one of the strangest highlights of the night.
No one knows exactly where the mantis came from, but she made herself at home fast. By the end, she was practically part of the lineup.
The praying mantis was perched proudly on Robles' head throughout the game.
It was unclear at first whether the player knew he had a passenger on board.

It’s a lot like the three “angry snakes” that turned out to be Atlas moths in disguise, in the tree.
But before long, Robles made a gesture to his special "teammate."

Commentators had fun with the situation.
And his fans were understandably impressed!
