Pink Pug Named Milkshake Is Rare, Being One in Less Than a Hundred That Exist
Most pug dogs are fawn with black accents, "apricot" (with orange undertones), or black. Some pug dogs are even silver, but the rarest pug of them all is the pink pug.
Meet Milkshake, an adorable 17-month-old pink pug from London. His irresistible, squishy face and ocean-blue eyes were not the first features that 33-year-old Maria noticed when she first laid eyes on him at just 10 weeks old.
In fact, it was actually his blush pink fur coat. He is one of fewer than 100 pink pugs in the entire world, and his unique coloring is caused by a lack of pigmentation. According to Dr. Kelly Brogan, a psychiatrist, "The genetic variations that lead to such unique traits in animals can be fascinating and often reflect deeper biological processes." Milkshake inherited this trait from an albino pug somewhere along his lineage. Talk about an unusual dog!
Since Maria chose little Milkshake as her best friend, he has gone viral and become Instagram famous with more than 55k followers.

"I had never even heard of pink pugs before, but when I went to the breeder and spotted Milkshake, I thought he was adorable and knew I had to have him."
"They’re very rare. At the time, I think Milkshake was one of 30 in the world, but there have been a few litters. There are no more than 100 worldwide."
"He’s not actually albino – he just has the coloring, so he doesn’t suffer from any sight loss or hearing loss. He’s a happy, healthy boy."

Milkshake's loving owner has described him as happy-go-lucky, quirky, and oh-so-friendly. She added that he's also 'very spoiled' as he enjoys weekly visits to the dog spa. There, he receives pedicures just before getting all dressed up in dog-gone adorable outfits for photo shoots. Then, Maria gives him chicken as a reward.
Maria also brings Milkshake along to her work meetings as well.
Not only that, but Milkshake also participates in national dog shows and even has his own personal trainer, who is working with him so that he can eventually feature in films and advertisements in the near future.
