Pitbull Was Tied To A Tree In Prospect Park In Brooklyn, But Luckily Good Samaritan Came To The Rescue
It's hard to believe that pets could be abandoned when they give us so much—love, companionship, and emotional support. Unfortunately, the sad truth is that this happens more often than you think, and the reasons why people abandon their pets are diverse.
Even though society is becoming more aware of owners' responsibilities for pets, many animals still get abandoned. This is exactly what happened to one adorable pit bull terrier when her owners decided to give up on her.
As a part-time job, Eric Maus was walking two dogs in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, when he saw this beauty chained to a tree. Instinctively, he approached the dog and started looking around to find her owner, but the owner was nowhere to be found.
Then he saw a handwritten note hanging from a tree branch next to the dog. That was the moment when Eric realized this pittie had been abandoned in the woods on purpose.
He had to do something to help this sweetie, so he took a couple of pictures and shared them on the Prospect Lefferts Gardens and Brooklyn Neighbors’ Facebook page with the caption, “There’s a note on the tree that says take her. Who do we call?”. Within five minutes, one of the members reached out to help Eric, and they took the dog to a shelter in Windsor Terrace—Sean Casey Animal Rescue.
I can't even imagine what would have happened to this friendly dog if Eric, a 28-year-old aspiring screenwriter, hadn't stumbled upon her. By all means, this guy deserves a medal for humanity; scroll down to get the whole story.
This dog Eric rescued and gave a second chance at life. She is so friendly and a real beauty.
Eric said, “I was walking Gouda and Lily through the park when I saw this really big, chubby pit bull tied to the tree.” I looked around and called out to her, ‘Hey, where’s your owner?’
“She was being so sweet and so gentle. She was just laying there, tongue out, so cute.”

The note that was left with her.
From the note, Eric found out the dog's name is Mamas, and she is 7 years old. The note also stated: “Take me home. I’m a great dog. Don’t let my size scare you. I’m sweet.”

Who would have the heart to abandon these adorable eyes? Certainly, he must have had a strong reason for doing that.

Here is the photo of Eric with Mamas. These smiles speak for themselves.
Eric said, “I didn’t know what to do, but I wanted to help her.” A dog shouldn’t be alone in the park like that, especially tied up with a metal chain. I felt I needed to do something.”

After the medical tests, she will be ready for adoption and to fulfill someone else's life. Eric hopes that she will find a loving home, and he added, “She’s a total sweetheart, with big brown doe-like eyes. She’s just a happy dog.”

No doubt this drop-dead gorgeous pittie will find her forever home in a split second. Thanks to a Good Samaritan, this dog got a second chance to have a happier life, and all we have to say to the people who left her is—it's your loss.
